Game 1 - Western Illinois 4, Purdue Fort Wayne 2
The Leathernecks scored two runs in the second inning to take the lead they would hold for the rest of the game. In the seventh they added to their lead with a pair of RBI singles from Kevin Raisbeck and Diego Munoz. The Mastodons responded with two runs of their own in the eighth. Robert Young III and Andrew Lawvere both earned an RBI.
Chase Phelps threw for 6.1 innings and Tyler Kissinger came in relief to finish the game. Kissinger did not give up a hit in his time on the mound and recorded three strikeouts in 1.2 innings. Javin Drake earned the win for the Leathernecks (4-3) and Phelps took the loss (1-6).
Game 2 - Western Illinois 10, Purdue Fort Wayne 0
WIU took the lead in the second inning with a single from Munoz that knocked in two runs. Drue Galassi had five RBI in the game, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the seventh.
Justin Miller was the pitcher of record for the 'Dons after throwing 3.1 innings. He moves to 0-3 after his first career Summit League start. Trevor Armstrong threw an inning in relief without giving up a hit. Jack Carberry picked up the win for WIU and is now 5-1.
The Mastodons fall to 5-28, 0-15 Summit League. Western Illinois is 14-19, 8-7. Purdue Fort Wayne will take the field again on Wednesday, April 17 with a non-league game with Toledo at 3 p.m. at Mastodon Field.
