Game One
Purdue Fort Wayne recorded nine hits in the opener. Alec Brunson totaled three hits including a run scored and a run batted in. Garrett Mohler had a hit, RBI and a walk. Aaron Chapman finished with a hit, run scored and a walk.
Omaha scored three in the first, one in the second and one in the fifth to make the score 5-0 in favor of the visitors. Both of the Mastodon runs came in the fifth inning to make the score 5-2, but the Mavs continued to build their lead.
Chase Phelps was the pitcher of record. He is now 1-7 after 5.0 innings. Payton Kinney moved to 8-0 after starting and going 7.0 innings for the Mavs.
Game Two
The Purdue Fort Wayne bullpen threw 3.1 innings of scoreless work. Trevor Armstrong (1.1), Brian Skelton (1.0) and Duane Miller (1.0) combined for the work.
Omaha was up 4-0 after four when the 'Dons struck for one in the fourth. Trenton Stoner singled to right on a 2-2 pitch to knock in Mohler. The Mastodons had another scoring chance in the seventh, but stranded two. The eighth saw Mohler hit a triple off the right field wall. He then came around on a Stoner groundout.
The two clubs played the top of the ninth inning, but in the middle of the frame the contest was called due to darkness.
Justin Miller started for the 'Dons. He is now 0-4 after giving up five hits and four runs in 4.2 innings. Spencer Koelewyn went 5.0 innings for the Mavs for the win. He is 4-1. Cal Hehnke tossed the final three innings to pick up the save.
Omaha improves to 24-10-1 (16-2 Summit League). Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 5-32 (0-18 Summit League).
The 'Dons are back in action on Wednesday (April 24) at Purdue. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
