The 'Dons scored once in the second, twice in the third and twice in the fourth to tie the game at five. Alec Brunson had two runs batted in and Austin Wilkie knocked in a run as the 'Dons worked to tie the game five.
The 'Dons scored two in the sixth to take a 7-6 lead. It was an 8-8 game entering the bottom of the eighth. Trenton Stoner singled to start the inning. Dylan Stewart came in to pinch run for Stoner and the sub payed off. Alec Brunson followed with a sacrifice bunt and Stewart went all the way to third once he saw Goshen left third uncovered on the play. Aaron Chapman then knocked in Stewart with a single. It made the score 9-8. Mohler then came to the plate and added some insurance with a two-run home run. It was his fourth of the season.
Tyler Kissinger earned the win for the Mastodons. He is 2-2. Chase Phelps threw the ninth to get his first save. Toby Fox took the loss for Goshen.
Chapman, WIlkie, Robert Young III and Stoner each had two hits for the 'Dons.
Goshen falls to 12-18. Purdue Fort Wayne improves to 5-21.
The 'Dons are back in action on Friday (April 5) in a doubleheader at home against North Dakota State. First pitch is set for noon.
