Mastodons Fall in Resumption of Game; Next Game Halted

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne and North Dakota State concluded yesterday's halted contest on Saturday (April 6) with the Bison edging the Mastodons 5-4 in 11 innings. The two clubs took to the field for game three of the series and advanced through the fifth inning with NDSU leading 7-0 before play was halted due to darkness.
The two teams resumed play in the 10th inning. Garrett Hill started on the mound for the 'Dons and kept NDSU off the board in the 10th. In Purdue Fort Wayne's half of the 10th Robert Young III opened the inning with a single. But he was erased on a double play. Austin Wilkie followed with a single to center but was stranded there end the frame.
NDSU pushed one across in the 11th on a run batted in by Jack Simonson. It would be enough for the win for the Bison.
In the next game, NDSU scored two runs in the second, three in fourth and two in the fifth. Shane Odzark started for the 'Dons and struck out seven. Andrew Lawvere and Brandon Yoho recorded hits in the contest. Charley Hesse had a 3-RBI triple for NDSU.
The game will be concluded on Sunday (April 7) at approximately 1:30 p.m. It will start following the conclusion of Purdue Fort Wayne's softball game which is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
