What To Watch For
The Mastodons are returning home for the Mastodon Invitational. Four future Horizon League foes (Detroit Mercy, IUPUI, Northern Kentucky and Wright State) will make their appearance on Saturday. Last week, Purdue Fort Wayne competed at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open where freshman Ben Marano broke the school record in the 400m dash with a time of 50.88. Sammy Moran competed in the mile run and ended with a third place finish (4:27.13) and Weston Miser took home fourth in the 800m run (2:00.96). Savannah Girolami led the way for the women's track and field team with a second place finish in the 400m and a time of 58.94. Makaila Groves had a personal best time of 2:26.12 in the 800m run and Sophia Hirzel also PR'd in the 3000m run with a time of 10:40.86.
Honors Season
For the second consecutive week, Purdue Fort Wayne took home all four Athlete of the Week awards. Lane Hawkins and Naomi Ashley earned Field Athlete of the Week honors and Ben Marano and Savannah Girolami took home Track Athlete of the Week honors.
Senior Day
On Saturday, seven seniors will be honored at 10:30 a.m. for Senior Day. On the men's side, Robert Peck, Austin Rockstroh and Alex Barton will be honored for cross country and track and field and on the women's side, Savannah Girolami, Ally Bailey, Lexi O'Connell and Elana Kayser will be recognized for track and field.
