Women's Track and Field Earns Seven Top Five Finishes

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field program hosted the Mastodon Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 18) at the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse. The Mastodons took home seven top five finishes and ended the day with a fourth place overall placement with 66 points.
Naimah Slaughter concluded the day in first place for the long jump and had a mark of 5.59m. She also competed in the high jump and finished with a mark of 1.63m and was second overall. Ally Bailey made her way through the 400m run and took second place (59.34). Miranda Haney adds herself to the top five list with a second place tie with Slaughter in the high jump (1.63m). Naomi Ashley took fourth in the long jump (5.25m) and the 4x400m relay team took first place (4:07.24).
Sophia Buck made her debut in the shot put with an overall 11th place finish and a mark of 8.82m.
The overall winner for the Mastodon Invitational was Indiana Tech with 189 points.
Up next for the Mastodons is the YSU National Mid-Major Invitational in Youngstown, Ohio on Friday (Jan. 31). The meet will begin at 10 a.m.
