Scouting NJIT
The Highlanders are coming off of a 3-1 victory against Lindenwood. Jens Feldthus led the way with 11 kills and Martin De Chavarria had seven blocks. Overall, NJIT is 2-2 on the year with a wins over Lindenwood and No. 12 USC.

Scouting George Mason
After a 3-1 win against No. 9 Pepperdine, the Patriots are coming into the weekend with a 2-2 overall record. George Mason tallied 47 kills, 12 of them from sophomore Richie Hoff. Before taking on the 'Dons, George Mason will face off against the Ball State Cardinals on Thursday (Jan. 23) at 7 p.m. The Patriots have played all four matches this season at home.

What Happened Last Time Against NJIT?
The Mastodons took down the Highlanders 3-0 on January 4, 2019. Pelegrin Vargas led the way with a .458 hitting clip (14-3-24) and also had eight digs. In the first set, the Mastodons kept NJIT at a .000 hitting percentage.

Patriots vs. 'Dons
Last time the 'Dons and Patriots met, the 'Dons swept the Patriots 3-0. Then senior, Alex Dickmann recorded seven kills overall and Frederico Santos had 17 assists. Troy Gooch collected four digs in one set of action.

Pele For National Player of the Week
Pelegrin Vargas earned his second-career Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week honor on January 21, 2020. The senior had 34 kills (5.67 per set), a .556 hitting percentage, 13 digs (2.17 per set), and one block at CSUN and UC Santa Barbara.

Nothin' But Awards
Pelegrin Vargas took home his fourth-career MIVA Offensive Player of the Week award on Tuesday (Jan. 21). In his first weekend back with the 'Dons, he had 22 kills against CSUN and 12 kills against No. 3 UC Santa Barbara and averaging a .556 hitting percentage. Vargas also collected three aces against the Matadors of CSUN and two more while at UC Santa Barbara.

Hey! We've Played There!
The Mastodons will play in the Recreation Athletic Complex at George Mason this weekend, only a seven-minute walk from the EagleBank Arena, which where the 2020 NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship will be played on May 7 and 9.

In the Top 15
Purdue Fort Wayne is in the AVCA Top 15 Coaches Poll this week, coming in at No. 11. The 'Dons have been ranked in the poll for 308 weeks since its inception in 1986.

Elite Mastodons
The Mastodons have been stellar against opponents outside of the AVCA Top 15 Coaches Poll since April 1, 2017. The 'Dons are 34-2 against unranked teams since that date.

Last Time Out
Purdue Fort Wayne played No. 4 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday (Jan. 17), and the Gauchos defeated the 'Dons 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-21). Pelegrin Vargas made his comeback after competing in the North American Olympic Qualification Tournament. Vargas tallied 34 kills and 13 digs on the west coast against CSUN and UCSB.
