Know Your Foe
Evansville is coming off a 84-61 loss to Murray State, and is riding a 20-game losing streak dating back to December 18, 2019. The Purple Aces did see two players reach double figures in the opening contest of the year, as Rylie Stephens and Abby Feit dropped 14 and 10, respectively.
The Series
One of the shortest-running series the Mastodons have is their four-game history with Evansville. The 'Dons are 3-1 all-time against the Purple Aces and have won the last three. Last year, the 'Dons overcame a 15-point deficit to beat UE, spurred on by 30 points from now student assistant coach Hannah Albrecht.
Starting Off Her Career on the Double!
Purdue Fort Wayne freshman Jaida Wolfork recorded a double-double in her first collegiate contest, dropping in 10 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. She was the first freshman to record a double-double since KeShyra McCarver had a 22-point, 14-rebound performance at Illinois on November 14, 2014.
**Cough Cough**... It Up
In the Mastodons' season opener against SIUE, the 'Dons forced SIUE to commit 28 turnovers. That was the most a Mastodon team has forced since Milwaukee coughed up 29 turnovers against the 'Dons on December 28, 2015.
Youth Will Out
Once Amellia Bromenschenkel joins the team in January, the Mastodons will be the seventh-youngest team in the country with an average age of 19.6. The 'Dons will also have the fourth-most freshmen in the country with seven, six of which are true freshmen.
92.3 Percent
As of now, the Purdue Fort Wayne has 11 of its 12 players with less than two letters of experience at the Division I level. Once the Mastodons add Amellia Bromenschenkel to the roster in January, that will be 12 of 13, a 92.3 percentage. This is the fifth-highest percentage of players on Division I rosters with less than two letters at the DI level.
Hess of a Marksman
While she doesn't get to the line all that often, Hannah Hess is excellent from the free throw line. For her career, Hess is a 90.4 percent free throw shooter with a 93.8 percent clip as a junior. She has only missed four of her 42 freebies in her career, one in each of her four seasons.
