Six Top Ten Finishes Highlight Day Two

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - At the end of day two of the YSU National Mid-Major on Saturday (Feb. 1) at the Watson Tressel Training Site, the Mastodon women's track and field program finished with six top ten finishes and two personal bests.
In the high jump, Miranda Haney led the way with an eighth place finish and a mark of 1.55m. Allyssa Hennessey was right behind Haney in ninth place and a mark of 1.55m as well. Naimah Slaughter rounded out the high jump for the 'Dons in 12th and a mark of 1.50m.
Nallely Alanis competed in the 60m hurdles and ended the event in 13th with a time of 9.59 and Payton Whaling finished in 21st with a time of 9.73. Lexi O'Connell made her way into the 21st spot for the 60m dash and had a time of 8.06. Savannah Girolami was in 26th (8.12), Ally Bailey was in 33rd (8.14) and Rachel Pierre-Louis concluded the event in 37th (8.22).
Leading the way in the 400m dash was Bailey. She completed the dash with a time of 58.49 and a fourth place finish. Girolami was two placements behind Bailey in sixth place (59.14) and Pierre-Louis was in 12th (60.37). Rounding out for the Mastodons was Katie Clark in 15th and a time of 61.25. O'Connell also competed in the 200m dash and finished in 23rd place (26.67) while Whaling was in 34th (27.00).
Makaila Groves had a personal best in the 800m run with a time of 2:21.46 and was in fifth place. Kathy Potter also had a personal best in the 3000m run with a time of 10:41.78. Potter completed the 3000m run in 8th place and Sophia Hirzel was in 14th (10:52.30).
Purdue Fort Wayne will head back to Allendale, Mich. on Friday (Feb. 14) and Saturday (Feb. 15) for the GVSU Big Meet. The first day of competition will kick off at 10 a.m. ET with the men's 5000m.
