Women's Track and Field Ends Day One With Three School Records

ALLENDALE, Mich. - After day one of competition, the Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field team finished with three school records and two top 10 finishes at the GVSU Big Meet at the Kelly Family Sports Center at Grand Valley State on Friday (Feb.14)
Makaila Groves earned her second school record with a time of 1:38.16 in the 600m run for 18th place. Lauren Morales also competed in the 600m run and had a time of 1:43.76 and ended the race in 39th place.
Rachel Pierre-Louis, Savannah Girolami, Katie Clark and Ally Bailey ran for the Mastodons in the 4x400m relay and finished with a time of 3:55.20, a full second faster than the previous school record set in 2019.
Bailey also competed in the 200m dash and clocked in her second school record for the evening with a time of 25.61.
Kathy Potter finished the 5000m run with a time of 18:33.44 (11th) and Dylan Kirkwood competed in the 60m dash with a time of 9.21 (28th).
Naimah Slaughter jumped to a mark of 1.63m in the high jump and led the way for the Mastodons in fifth place. Naomi Ashley had a mark of 5.25m in the long jump and finished in 16th place.
The 'Dons will continue at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich. on Saturday (Feb. 15). Competition will begin at 10 a.m. ET with the field events.
