'Dons Finish GVSU Big Meet Day Two With Three Top Ten Finishes

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field rounded out day two of the GVSU Big Meet at Grand Valley State University on Saturday (Feb. 15) with three top 10 finishes.
Nallely Alanis finished the 60m hurdles in ninth place with a time of 9.17. Payton Waling ended the 60m hurdles in 25th place and a time of 9.43.
In the 60m dash open event, Rachel Pierre-Louis earned ninth and had a time of 8.33. Haley Pandazis came in 11th with a time 8.34 and Katie Clark was in 13th and clocked in at 8.37.
Naimah Slaughter placed fourth in the long jump and had a mark of 5.60m. Naomi Ashley was in 25th (5.05m), Joani Ashley placed 36th (4.85m) and Payton McHenry rounded out the Mastodons in 37th (4.84m).
Lexi O'Connell ran in the 60m dash preliminaries and ended the event in 19th with a time of exactly eight seconds. McHenry was in 46th and finished the race in 8.28 seconds.
O'Connell also competed in the 200m dash with a time of 26.59 and was in 35th place.
In the 400m dash, Ally Bailey finished in 17th place and had a time of 58.93. Pierre-Louis was in 28th and clocked in a time of 59.61.
Makaila Groves ran in the 800m with a time of 2:21.14 and earned 28th place. Sophia Hirzel competed in the 3000m run and finished in 33rd place and a time of 10:40.96.
Waling, Katie Clark, Pandazis and Groves ran for the Mastodons in the 4x400m relay and clocked in a time of 4:12.28 and placed 11th. Kenzie Smith, Savannah Girolami, Groves and Kathy Potter finished the distance medley relay in 20th place and had a time of 12:45.26.
In the field events, Miranda Haney jumped for Purdue Fort Wayne in the high jump and had a mark of 1.54m and was in 13th place.
Purdue Fort Wayne will host the Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships Presented By U.S. Air Force Special Warfare on Friday (Feb. 28) and Saturday (Feb. 29) at the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse. Events will begin on Friday at 9:30 a.m. ET.
