'Dons Split on Saturday in Alabama

TROY, Ala. – The Purdue Fort Wayne softball squad picked up their first win of the season on Saturday (Feb. 15) afternoon at the Troy Invitational.
Game One – Purdue Fort Wayne 7, Southern Miss 5
Southern Miss led 4-0 when the 'Dons cut the deficit in half in the fourth inning with back-to-back home runs by Madeline Swart and Olivia Stansbury.
The 'Dons took the lead for good with five runs in the fifth. The big hit was a two-run single by Alaina White.
Shaina Eyre (1-1) picked up the win for Purdue Fort Wayne.
Game Two – Kennesaw State 7, Purdue Fort Wayne 1
The contest was scoreless until both clubs scored a run in the fourth. For the Mastodons, Morganne Denny was hit by a pitch with two outs and came around to score.
Kennesaw State took the lead for good with two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth.
Denny finished the game with a single, hit by pitch and a walk.
The 'Dons play Eastern Illinois on Sunday to close out the Troy Invitational.
