FORT WAYNE, Ind. - For the first time since 2016, Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball is heading to San Juan, Puerto Rico to face off against the Gallitos of Puerto Rico - Rio Piedras on Tuesday (March 10) at 2 p.m. ET.

Scouting Purdue Fort Wayne
Purdue Fort Wayne is heading to Puerto Rico after a 3-0 win against Sacred Heart on Friday (March 6). Pelegrin Vargas led the Mastodons with 11 kills and eight digs while Jon Diedrich contributed 10 kills and eight digs. Tomas Gago ended the match with zero attack errors and .571 hitting. The 'Dons out-hit the Pioneers .289 to .043. Sacred Heart is the third team this season the Mastodons have held under .100 hitting.
Gallitos vs. 'Dons
The Mastodons and Gallitos are reigniting an old rivalry after not playing each other since 2016. The 'Dons left Puerto Rico with a pair of wins over Puerto Rico - Rio Piedras, 3-1 and 3-2. Andrew Sellan led the Mastodons with a combined 29 kills and Alex Dickmann was close behind with 21 kills. Dickmann hit .417 for the week and Puerto Rico native, Luis Bertran, earned 22 digs. Jaysen Zaleski dominated the net with 10 total blocks, all coming in the opening match against the Gallitos.

Frederico Santos is ranked first in the nation in assists per set (11.27) for the ninth week in a row. He has tallied 520 assists so far this season and had a career-high 57 assists against Queens on January 10. Pelegrin Vargas is ranked first in the nation in kills per set (4.54).
Next Time Up
The 'Dons will make the trip to Pennsylvania to take on Saint Francis (Pa.) on Thursday (March 19) in DeGol Arena and No. 8 Penn State on Saturday (March 21) in Rec Hall. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m. ET.
