Mastodons Finish Sycamore Team Challenege With Seven Top Five Finishes

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field program concluded the final day of the Sycamore Team Challenge at Indiana State with seven top-five finishes. The Mastodons finished with a total of 57 points and were fifth overall.
Miranda Haney led the way in the high jump with a third-place finish and a mark of 1.60m. Kelsey Shatava was seventh in the high jump with jump of 1.50m and Jesseca Hudson-Turpin was 10th (1.45m). Freshman Jai Reed was third in the long jump and reach a mark of 5.33m. Payton McHenry was ninth in the long jump (4.71m).
Rachel Pierre-Louis, Hudson-Turpin, Maya Preece and Katie Clark recorded a time of 4:12.45 in the 4x400 meter relay and placed fourth. The distance medley relay team that consisted of Gianna Stanich, Mackenzie Lanning, Makaila Groves and Angelina Sedlaczek clocked in at 13:17.79 for third.
Hudson-Turpin made her 60-meter hurdle finals debut with a time of 9.12 and finished in third. In the 400-meter dash, Preece ran her way to fourth place and clocked in at 1:01.38. Clark (seventh, 1:03.03) and Pierre-Louis (eighth, 1:03.49) followed behind.
In the 3000-meter run, Madison King was the first Mastodon to cross the finish line in fourth (10:10.42) followed by Mallory Clements in fifth (10:55.13) and Mercedes Sarver in ninth (12:10.68). Paige Benecke (sixth, 5:28.47), Sedlaczek (seventh, 5:29.88) and Kiannah Sarver (eighth, 5:50.38) represented Purdue Fort Wayne in the mile run. Groves led the Mastodons in the 800-meter run with a finish of fifth place and a time of 2:24.84.
The Mastodons will make their way back to the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse to host the Mastodon Invitational on Friday, February 12.
