Gebert, Gates, Nell and Crowe to be Honored on Senior Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team will recognize its four seniors on Friday (Nov. 12) when the Mastodons welcome IUPUI. The four seniors to be recognized will be Kendyll Gebert, Madison Gates, Maddi Nell and Katie Crowe.

Series History
Purdue Fort Wayne owns a 29-24 record against IUPUI in the all-time series, with the Jaguars taking the last win in October of this season. The first match these two teams played was in 1978, a 2-0 win for the Mastodons. IUPUI has won six of the last 10 matches, but the 'Dons have a 12-11 edge as members of the same conference.

• IUPUI is 5-23, 3-14 in Horizon League play and have gone 2-5 since beating the 'Dons 3-1 on October 15. Those two wins came against Youngstown State and Robert Morris, both 3-1. Briana Brown is leading the Jaguars' offense with a 3.21 kills per set clip and Rhiannon Schuenemann pacing the back line with 3.38 digs per set.

Purdue Fort Wayne will recognize four student-athletes for senior day on Friday: Kendyll Gebert, Madison Gates, Maddi Nell and Katie Crowe. Gates and Crowe were both First Team All-Horizon League honorees in the spring of 2021. Nell is only a junior in terms of athletic eligibility, but will be graduating and ending her career after three seasons with the Mastodons.
Finishing Strong
Madelyn Wurster has been finishing the season strong. Over the last four matches, she averaged 4.19 kills per set and a .301 hitting percentage against Robert Morris, Youngstown State, Wright State and Northern Kentucky. This totals to 67 kills, the most of any Mastodons in this same stretch.
No One Has Played More
No Division I institution has played more volleyball than Purdue Fort Wayne this season. The Mastodons have played 116 sets this season. Eastern Kentucky is second, having played 115 sets.
Nearing 100
Head coach Steve Florio is nearing 100 wins in his career. He is currently sitting at 98 wins since taking over the head coaching duties of the program in 2014.
Saturday Night Five
The Mastodons have played eight five-set matches this season (SIUE, Kent State, Liberty, Green Bay, UIC, Oakland, at UIC, and Northern Kentucky). Purdue Fort Wayne opened Horizon League play with three five-set matches in its first four games.
Last Time Out
Purdue Fort Wayne went to five sets with the league-leading Northern Kentucky Norse on Saturday, November 6. The Mastodons got a career-high 23 kills out of Madelyn Wurster, who did so on a .333 hitting percentage.
