Horizon League Preview
Purdue Fort Wayne will compete in its first season in the Horizon League in the 2021 season. The 'Dons were picked ninth in the preseason poll, but ranked seventh in the RPI at the end of last season. They will open 2021 with Cleveland State in Fort Wayne on March 12-13. Last season, the 'Dons played Wright State (before the program was cut) and Northern Kentucky in nonconference tournaments, and had UIC and Green Bay scheduled for after the season was canceled. The 'Dons have played all Horizon League schools at least once and hold all-time winning records against Detroit Mercy (12-11), IUPUI (26-20), Oakland (14-12) and Youngstown State (2-1).
Summit League Recap
The Mastodons were in the Summit League from 2008-20. They had four head coaches in that time: Keith Fisher, Amy Tudor, John Bassett and Germaine Fairchild. The 'Dons finished second in the League regular season three times (2010, 2012 and 2014) and won the League tournament in 2013, earning a berth to the NCAA Regional Tournament.
Last Time Out
Evansville took a 3-1 advantage in its series with Purdue Fort Wayne. The Mastodons took the last game of the weekend 8-7 for their first win of the season.
Coming Up
After the home games against Cleveland State, the Mastodons will hit the road to visit UIC on March 19-20 for a pair of doubleheaders.
