Nine Top Ten Finishes Conclude Margaret Simmons Invite

MURRAY, Ky. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field team competed at the Margaret Simmons Invite at Murray State on Saturday (March 27). The day was highlighted by nine top 10 finishes.
Dylan Kirkwood earned a second place finish in the 400 meter hurdles and clocked in at 1:04.12. Jesseca Hudson-Turpin was close behind in fourth and had a time of 1:06.66. Kirkwood also led the 'Dons in the 100 meter hurdles and finished in sixth with a time of 14.79. Hudson-Turpin came in ninth (15.23) and Ramey Wilder was in 19th (18.00). Maya Preece concluded the 400 meter dash in 58.46 and ended up in seventh. Katie Clark was in 21st (1:01.15) and Mackenzie Lanning was 24th (1:02.38). In the hammer throw, Abbigail Garwood represented the Mastodons and finished the event in eighth and threw a mark of 30.15m. The 4 x 100 meter relay team, consisting of Payton McHenry, Rachel Pierre-Louis, Preece and Hudson-Turpin, had a time of 49.06 and finished in fourth overall. The 4 x 800 meter relay team, that compiled of Makaila Groves, Lauren Morales, Gianna Stanich and Brayden Langdon, recorded a time of 10:00.08 and was fourth. Rounding out the top 10 finishes is the 4 x 400 meter relay squad in fourth place (4:08.76). The team consisted of Pierre-Louis, Hudson-Turpin, Preece and Clark. The second 4 x 400 meter relay team, which was Kirkwood, Lanning, Jasmyne Rivera and Wilder, finished the event in ninth place (4:21.51).
In the 100 meter dash, Rivera came in 20th (13:03), McHenry was 21st (13.06) and Haley Pandazis was 23rd (13.12). At the conclusion of the 200 meter dash, Preece earned 15th (25.93), Pierre-Louis was 27th (26.77), Pandazis was 32nd (27.07) and Lanning was 38th (27.32)
Groves led the Mastodons in the 800 meter run and clocked in at 2:23.99 (13th). Gianna Stanich (17th, 2:25.84), Lauren Morales (37th, 2:36.63) and Langdon (47th, 2:41.87) rounded out Purdue Fort Wayne.
Miranda Haney jumped to a mark of 1.55m (11th) in the high jump and Kelsey Shatava was not fair behind with a mark of 1.45m (18th). Garwood also competed in the javelin event and threw to 24.08m (15th) and Sophia Buck had a mark of 16.74m (20th). Garwood (14th, 10.45m) and Buck (25th, 8..53m) were in the shot put as well. McHenry (14th, 4.91m), Jai Reed (17th, 4.76m) and Wilder (24th, 4.42m) represented the 'Dons in the long jump
Purdue Fort Wayne will be at Western Kentucky on Friday (April 2) and Saturday (April 3) for the Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Friday's events will start at 1 p.m. and Saturday will begin at 9 a.m.

Rounding out the top 10 finishes is the 4 x 400 meter relay squad in fourth place (4:08.76). The team consisted of Pierre-Louis, Hudson-Turpin, Preece and Clark. The second 4 x 400 meter relay team, which was Kirkwood, Lanning, Jasmyne Rivera and Wilder, finished the event in ninth place (4:21.51).
In the 100 meter dash, Rivera came in 20th (13:03), McHenry was 21st (13.06) and Haley Pandazis was 23rd (13.12). At the conclusion of the 200 meter dash, Preece earned 15th (25.93), Pierre-Louis was 27th (26.77), Pandazis was 32nd (27.07) and Lanning was 38th (27.32)
