Two Top Five Finishes Conclude Day One of Hilltopper Relays

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field team ended day one of the Hilltopper Relays at Western Kentucky University with two top five finishes on Friday (April 2).
Freshman Madison King led the 'Dons in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:14.02 and a fifth place finish. Kiannah Sarver was in eighth place and completed the 5000 meter run in 18:54.33 while Kathy Potter was in ninth (19:12.59). Dylan Kirkwood was the second Mastodon to finish in the top five with a fifth place finish in the long jump. Kirkwood jumped to a mark of 5.26m. Jai Reed was seventh and had a mark of 5.15m. Payton McHenry rounded out for Purdue Fort Wayne in 13th (4.74m).
Miranda Haney finished in 11th for the high jump (1.55m) and Kirkwood was in 14th (1.50m). Abbigail Garwood led the way in the shot put with a 12th place finish and threw to a mark of 11.40m. Maddi Hardin was not far behind in 15th and a mark of 10.44m. Garwood was in 17th (35.22m) for the hammer throw and Hardin finished in 21st (23.49m).
Purdue Fort Wayne will continue with day two on Saturday (April 3) at the Charles M. Ruter Track and Field Complex. The second day of competition will begin at 9 a.m. with the women's discuss.
