'Dons Compete at Hilltopper Relays on Friday and Saturday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne track and field program will head back to Kentucky for the Hilltopper Relays at Western Kentucky University on Friday (April 2) and Saturday (April 3). Friday's events will begin at 2 p.m. ET at the Charles M. Ruter Track and Field Complex and Saturday will start at 10 a.m. ET.

They Did What?!
After competing at the Margaret Simmons Invite last weekend at Murray State University, the men's track and field team came back to Fort Wayne with four new school records. Dona Fagnon set the school record in 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.62. This marks Fagnon's second school record during his freshman year. Braxton Trittipo broke the 400 meter dash record with a time of 51.43 and Elijah Merida jumped to a mark of 6.70 meters in the long jump. Fagnon, Trittipo, Brent Donaldson and John Jackman competed in the 4 x 100 meter relay and set the school record with a time of 42.97.
'Dons in the Top Ten
Last weekend on March 27, the Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field program earned nine top ten finishes at the Margaret Simmons Invite. Dylan Kirkwood was second in the 400 meter hurdles (1:04.12) and Jesseca Hudson-Turpin was fourth (1:06.66). In the 100 meter hurdles, Kirkwood finished in sixth (14.79) and Hudson-Turpin was ninth (15.23). Maya Preece earned seventh (58.46) in the 400 meter dash for the 'Dons. In the hammer throw, Abbigail Garwood represented the Mastodons and finished the event in eighth and threw a mark of 30.15m. The 4 x 100 meter relay team, consisting of Payton McHenry, Rachel Pierre-Louis, Preece and Hudson-Turpin, had a time of 49.06 and finished in fourth overall. The 4 x 800 meter relay team, that compiled of Makaila Groves, Lauren Morales, Gianna Stanich and Brayden Langdon, recorded a time of 10:00.08 and was fourth. Rounding out the top 10 finishes is the 4 x 400 meter relay squad in fourth place (4:08.76). The team consisted of Pierre-Louis, Hudson-Turpin, Preece and Katie Clark. The second 4 x 400 meter relay team, which was Kirkwood, Mackenzie Lanning, Jasmyne Rivera and Ramey Wilder, finished the event in ninth place (4:21.51).

The Mastodons will return to Fort Wayne for the Indiana Tech Home Meet Invite on Saturday (April 10) at Warrior Park. The meet will start at 10 a.m. ET with the men's hammer throw, women's javelin and women's shot put.
