Men's 4x100 Relay Squad leads Mastodon T&F Through GVSU

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field program completed the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet on Saturday (April 25).
The 4x100 meter relay squad of Darius Atkins, Tristen Newsome, Noah Morris and Ezra Lewellen ran the Horizon League's second-fastest time of the season, finishing in 41.36 seconds.
Freshman Sawyer Ruminer cleared the league's third-highest pole vault mark, a personal-record 4.68 meters. Andrew Roman reached 4.38 meters at the event. The mark would place seventh in the HL, but the senior already owns fourth.
Josiah Bird threw a 50.79 meter discus throw that would place third in the Horizon League, but a previous toss already sits in third. Denton Jacobs threw a personal record 44.96 meters in the event, eighth furthest in the league.
Lewellen (10.63) and Newsome (10.85) were also seen in the 100 meter dash, running the HL's fourth and seventh fastest time.
Bird returned to action for the shot put (15.61m), recording the fourth longest throw in the Horizon League this season.
Freshman Jack Strong ran a personal record 9:21.13 3000 meter steeplechase time, good for sixth in league standings.
On day one of the meet (April 24), Jacobs recorded a personal record 43.79 meter javelin throw mark. The distance is seventh in the HL.
Owen Kaufman also notched his place in seventh of Horizon League standings during the first day at GVSU with a 50.84 meter hammer throw.
Freshman Kale Seymour completed the 800 meters in a personal record 1:53.38 time, good for eighth in the league.
The 'Dons will travel to Oakland to take on the Horizon League Outdoor Championships (May 8-10).
