King Leads 'Dons at Horizon League Cross Country Championships

CARMEL, Ind. - After a long 475 days of no competition, the Purdue Fort Wayne women's cross country team participated at the 2021 Horizon League Cross Country Championships hosted by IUPUI on Thursday (March 4) at the Northview Church Course.
Freshman Madison King led the way for the Mastodons with an eighth place finish in the 6K with a time of 22:55.9. King's placement is the best finish by a freshman at the league championships during the Division I era for the Mastodons. Angelina Sedlaczek was the next Purdue Fort Wayne participant to cross the finish line in 42nd place (24:21.8).
Mallory Clements concluded the 6K in 24:37.7 and placed 45th. Kathy Potter was in 51st (25:04.1) and Paige Benecke was right behind Potter in 52nd (25:12.6). Kiannah Sarver rounded out the Mastodons in 54th place and ran a time of 25:33.8.
The squad consisting of five freshmen and one sophomore came in eighth place with a score of 194 points
The overall team winner was Milwaukee with 58 points. Milwaukee's Meg Swietlik was the individual winner with a time of 21:33.3.
