First Place Finish and New School Record Round Out Day Two

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The second day of competition at the Gibson Invitational at Indiana State ended with a first place finish and a new school record for the Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field team. John Jackman broke the 200 meter dash school record and freshman Aaron Martin earned first in the javelin throw.
Jackman broke his third school record of the outdoor season with a time of 22.65 in the 200 meter dash, earning 20th place overall. Dona Fagnon finished the event in 24th with a time of 22.80 and Connor West was in 32nd and clocked in a time of 23.48. Martin was the only Mastodon representative in the javelin throw and placed first overall with a throw of 50.27m.
In the final day of the decathlon, Elijah Merida placed 14th with 5,391 points. Logan Alexander was close behind Merida in 16th with 4,333 and Conner Bayne rounded out for Purdue Fort Wayne in 17th and tallied 4,204 points.
Garrett Anglemeyer threw a mark of 43.27m in the hammer throw, earning 17th place. Asher Walden came in 18th with a mark of 42.21m and Tony Ordway was 21st overall and had a mark of 37.02m.
Andrew Whitinger claimed the 12th place spot in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:01.55. Nicholas Mills came in 24th (15:15.38), Draven Thompson was in 26th (15:23.21) and Nathan Mills concluded for the Mastodons in 34th (15:48.60).
The 'Dons are currently in 11th place as a team with 10 points.
The third and final day of the Gibson Invitational at the Gibson Track and Field Complex will begin at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday (April 17) with the women's 100 meter trials.
