ATHENS, Ohio - The Purdue Fort Wayne baseball team dropped a non-league contest at Ohio 9-1 on Saturday (April 24).
The Mastodons took an early lead thanks to a single from Trenton Stoner that scored Jack Lang. Lang reached on the previous at bat with a double down the right field line.
The 'Dons' lead was short-lived, as Ohio tallied two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Ohio's lead ballooned to its final line of 9-1 after scoring runs in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth.
The Mastodons had two runners reach scoring position, but they were left on base. The 'Dons finished with five hits from five different players.
Justin Miller struck out five Bobcats in 6.1 innings on the mound. He falls to 3-5 with the loss. Ohio's Logan Jones improves to 3-3 after five innings with just one earned run.

Purdue Fort Wayne will return home and to Horizon League play next week, when the 'Dons welcome Wright State to Mastodon Field on Friday (April 30). First pitch for that game will be approximately 3 p.m. following the Purdue Fort Wayne softball doubleheader with Green Bay.
