Beehler and Whitinger Help 'Dons to Second Place Finish

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field team placed second at the Elaine Leigh Track and Field Invite on Saturday (April 24) with 149 points and two new school records.
Luke Beehler was the first to set a school record in the long jump with a mark of 6.94m to place third. Elijah Merida was right behind Beehler in fourth place, jumping to 6.65m. Andrew Whitinger broke the Purdue Fort Wayne school record in the 10,000 meter run and placed first overall with a time of 31:54.58. Beehler also competed in the triple jump and came in sixth with a mark of 12.35m.
Nicholas Mills finished in second place in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:28.35. Husam Saleh was in fifth (15:37.09), Draven Thompson placed sixth (16:00.66), Nathan Mills came in seventh (16:06.04), Camden Abernathy earned 10th (16:29.67) and Noah Wright rounded out for the Mastodons in 12th (18:23.60). In the 800 meter run, Weston Miser clocked in a time of 1:57.20, earning first place overall. Freshman Kehinde Oladapo recorded a time of 1:58.27 and came in third. Cory Waldron ran a time of 1:59.66 (fourth), Bryce Taylor had a time of 1:59.77 (fifth), Keagan Stuckey finished in 2:00.62 (seventh) and Sebastien Wilson clocked in at 2:07.82 (ninth).
Jaden Warner finished the 100 meter dash in 10.94, placing second. Ian Bollheimer came in seventh with a time of 11.47. Connor West ended the 400 meter dash in fourth place with a time of 50.94. Merida came in fifth place and recorded a time of 51.85. West also competed in the 200 meter dash and was in fourth, clocking in a time of 22.99.The men's 4x400 meter relay squad, consisting of Waldron, Miser, Stuckey and Oladapo,came in first place and finished in 3:29.31.
In the shot put, Garrett Anglemeyer threw to a mark of 13.19m, earning fourth, Tony Ordway was right behind Anglemeyer in fifth place with a mark of 12.99m. Freshman Aaron Martin threw to 54.39m to win the javelin. Conner Bayne was in sixth with a mark of 38.23m. Martin also led the way for Purdue Fort Wayne in the discus with a mark of 41.07m to come in third place. Asher Walden was in fourth (40.67m), Anglemeyer finished in sixth (37.86m), Ordway came in seventh (36.32m) and Bayne rounded out in ninth (28.29m). Walden also competed in the hammer throw and threw to a mark of 45.85m for a runner-up finish. Anglemeyer finished in third (42.77m) and Ordway was in ninth (33.31m).
Alex Schipper led the 'Dons by winning the pole vault with a 4.57m height. Landin Keiffer finished in fourth (3.67m), Mason Hoffer was in fifth (3.52m) and Jeff Ruppert came in sixth (3.52m). In the high jump, Austin Dove had a jump of 1.95m with a third place finish. Lane Hawkins finished in fifth and had a height of 1.90m.
Purdue Fort Wayne will head to Valparaiso University for the Valpo Invite on Saturday (May 1) at the Warren G. Hoger Track Complex. The Valpo Invite will be the final meet before the 'Dons will compete at the 2021 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted at Youngstown State on Friday (May 7) through Sunday (May 9).
