Warner Claims New School Record Time at Valpo Invite

VALPARAISO, Ind. - With a new school record by Jaden Warner and two first place finishes, the Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field program rounded out the Valpo Invite with a team score of 116 points, earning third, on Saturday (May 1) at the Warren G. Hoger Track Complex.
Warner clocked in a time of 10.94 in the 100 meter dash, placing third overall and setting the school record. John Jackman placed fifth (11.24) and Ian Bollheimer came in seventh (11.45). Warner also clinched first place in the 200 meter dash and ran a time of 22.70. The Mastodons earned the top four spots with Jackman in second (22.97), Connor West in third (23.28) and Braxton Trittipo in fourth (23.44). Brent Donaldson was the only Mastodon runner in the 400 meter hurdles and placed first overall with a time of 56.71.
Trittipo recorded a time of 51.56 in the 400 meter dash and earned second. West was right behind Trittipo in third place with a time of 51.96. In the 1500 meter run, Husam Saleh came in fifth place and clocked in at 4:04.38. Camden Abernathy ran a time of 17:16.07 in the 5000 meter run and placed fifth overall. Noah Wright was in sixth and had a time of 18:40.31.
Logan Alexander jumped to a mark of 5.95m in the long jump, earning second, and jumped to a height of 1.85m in the high jump and placed fifth. In the pole vault event, Alex Schipper reached a height of 4.30m and came in third place. Landin Keiffer had a height of 3.70m and was fifth. Freshman Elijah Merida represented Purdue Fort Wayne in the javelin throw and had a mark of 42.45m with a sixth place finish.
In the shot put, Aaron Martin threw to 12.88m, finishing fifth, and Tony Ordway was in fifth with a mark of 12.34m. Ordway also competed in the discus throw and placed seventh overall with a throw to 35.66m. Wrapping up in the hammer throw, Martin claimed the fifth place spot with a mark of 40.69m and Ordway was in seventh with 34.63m.
Purdue Fort Wayne will head to Youngstown, Ohio for the 2021 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday (May 7) through Sunday (May 9). This will be Purdue Fort Wayne's first time competing in the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships since becoming a member of the league in July 2020.
