'Dons Compete at Valpo Invite For Single Day Meet

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne track and field program will compete at the Valpo Invite on Saturday (May 1) at the Warren G. Hoger Track Complex. The Mastodons will begin competition at 1 p.m. with the men's long jump, men's hammer throw and 3,000 meter men's steeplechase. Events will be on a rolling schedule.

The Mastodons have set a new school record 19 times during the outdoor season, including four on the women's side and 15 times on the men's. John Jackman has set the 100 meter dash record twice and also broke the 200 meter dash school record. Freshman Dona Fagnon set the 110 meter hurdles record twice and Braxton Trittipo has reset the 400 meter dash record three times in four meets. On Saturday (April 24), Andrew Whitinger ran a time of 31:54.58 in the 10,000 meter run, clocking in with a school record. Earlier in the season, Whitinger set the 5,000 meter run record with a time of 14:59.43. Jesseca Hudson-Turpin has made her mark in the Purdue Fort Wayne school record book by breaking the 100 meter hurdles record at the Warrior Open and at the Gibson Invitational. Miranda Haney most recently set the outdoor record in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m at the Elaine Leigh Track and Field Invite.
