
King Placed In Top 10 For Third Consecutive Race At The Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Purdue Fort Wayne women's cross country student-athlete Madison King placed in the top 10 for a third consecutive race at the Spartan Invitational on Friday, Sept. 17.
As a team, the Mastodons finished 12th out of 20 teams with 332 points in the women's 6K and the race consisted of 236 runners. Michigan State won the race with a total of 36 points.
King started the race in 43rd place at the mile mark with a time of 5:53.80. She would climb her way towards the top of the standings throughout the race, and would finish in eighth place with a 6K time of 22:13.90.
Behind King was Brooke Neal, who finished in 74th place (23:48.90), Kathy Potter in 113th place (24:49.70), Paige Benecke in 140th place (25:24.40), Makaila Groves in 148th place (25:36.30), Madison Langdon in 165th place (26:08.80), Mercedes Sarver in 166th place (26:14.20, new personal record), Aeryn Bradley in 198th place (28:53.60) and Michaela Sheets in 219th place (31:13.1).
The Mastodons will be back in action on Friday and Saturday Oct. 1 and Oct. 2. A group of student-athletes will travel to Huntington, Ind. to compete in the Huntington Invitational, hosted by Huntington University on Friday, Oct. 1. A second group of student-athletes will travel to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the Live In Lou Classic, hosted by the University of Louisville, on Saturday, Oct. 2.
