The Patriots started the season ranked No. 15 in the preseason AVCA poll. They enter Thursday's match with a 1-1 record with a win against Barton College (3-0) on Friday, Jan. 14 in Wilson, N.C, followed by a loss to Mount Olive on (3-2) on Saturday, Jan. 15 in Mount Olive, N.C.
As a team, the Patriots hit .236, while holding opponents to a .125 hitting percentage. Jack Bolz and Omar Hoyos are the Patriots' leading attackers. Boltz leads the Patriots in kills with 25 (3.13 kills per set) and hits .269. He had 15 kills in their loss to Mount Olive. Hoyos is second in total kills with 24 (3.00 kills per set) and hits .340 on the season. He had 18 kills and hit .389 against Mount Olive.
Troy McDonald and Zach Talamoa have split time at setter. McDonald leads the team in assists per game (8.0), Talamoa started in both matches last weekend and averages 7.86 assists per game. Defensively, Hoyos leads the Patriots in digs per set (2.13) while Lucas Little leads the Patroits in total blocks (6.0) and blocks per set (0.75).

Thursday's match will be the 52nd meeting between the Mastodons and Patriots. The only EIVA opponent the 'Dons have faced more is Penn State.
The first meeting between the two teams was back on March 13, 1986 where the Patriots defeated the 'Dons 3-1 in Fort Wayne. At home, the 'Dons own a 10-9 record against the Patriots. Since 2011, the 'Dons own a 8-4 record over the Patriots, which includes a 3-1 record under head coach Ryan Perrotte.
Record Against EVIA Schools
The 'Dons own an 87-81 record all time against EIVA schools, including an 18-10 record under coach Perrotte.
Schedule Change
The Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball team has made an addition to their schedule. The Mastodons will host Saint Francis (PA) on Saturday (Jan. 29) in a 3 p.m. start on Arnie Ball Court at the Gates Sports Center.
Tickets will be $8 for the contest. Season ticket holders may pick up a free ticket for the game at the box office prior to the start of the game.

The Mastodons will play two more games this weekend. They travel to the east coast to take on St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday, Jan. 22 (4 p.m.) and NJIT on Sunday, Jan. 23 (1 p.m.).
