Track & Field Set To Host Mastodon Invitational

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Purdue Fort Wayne track & field teams are set to host the Mastodon Invitational, presented by Three Rivers Running Company, at the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 22.
Saturday's meet will be the second and final home meet the Mastodons will host for the 2021-22 indoor season.
Field events are set to take place at 11 a.m. while track events start at 12 p.m. with the women's 5,000 meter run. Tickets will be available to purchase at the meet at $10 per adult, $5 for senior citizens and youth. Spectators attending the meet are required to wear a mask at all times.
There will be no live stream and no live results during the meet. Those in attendance can find results towards the front of the fieldhouse. Results will be posted online once the meet is over.
Saturday's meet will include Horizon League foes Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, and Wright State along with Huntington, Quincy, and Valparaiso.
At the Mastodon Opener back on Dec. 4, three Purdue Fort Wayne athletes broke program records. Those athletes were Asher Walden in the men's weight throw (16.35 meters), Kehinde Oladapo in the men's 5,000 meter run (15:01.65) and Selena Johnson in the women's triple jump (11.73 meters).
Cody Loshe and Miranda Haney received Horizon League's men's and women's field athlete of the week honors after their performances at SVSU last week.
Following the Mastodon Invitational, the Purdue Fort Wayne track & field teams travel to Youngstown, Ohio. to compete in the YSU Mid-Major invitational on Friday and Saturday Jan. 28 and 29. Youngstown State is also set to host the Horizon League Indoor Championships on Saturday and Sunday Feb. 26 and 27.
