Johnson, Oladapo Break Program Records At Mastodon Invitational

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne men's track & field athletes Kehinde Oladapo and Zyler Johnson broke program records at the Mastodon Invitational presented by Three Rivers Running Company at the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 22.
Johnson broke the program record in the weight throw at 16.44 meters. The record was previously held by Asher Walden's at 16.43 meters, which was set at the Mastodon Opener back on Dec. 4.
Oladapo broke the program record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:40.25. He breaks the old record of 8:43.36 which was set by Logan Kitchen back in 2019. This was the first time Oladapo has ever run a 3,000 meter race.
At Saturday's meet, the 'Dons took first in six events, including Joe Cartwright (51.72 seconds) in the 400 meter dash, Dona Fagnon (7.02 seconds) in the 60 meter dash, Weston Miser (1:58.30) in the 800 meter run, Kehinde Oladapo in the 3,000 meter run (8:40.25), the 4 by 400 meter team, which consisted of Brent Donaldson, Braxton Trittipo, Nicolas Blair, and Joe Cartwright (3:26.22), and Zyler Johnson in the shot put (14.19 meters).
The 'Dons also snatched several second place finishes, including Braxton Trittipo (52.01 seconds) in the 400 meter dash, Kobe Milledge (1:59.76) in the 800 meter run, Dona Fagnon (22.92 seconds) in the 200 meter dash, Zyler Johnson in the men's weight throw (16.44 meters), Aaron Martin in the shot put (13.78 meters), and Austin Dove in the high jump (1.93 meters)
Third place finishes included Husam Saleh (4:24.42) in the mile, Brent Donaldson (8.66) in the 60 meter hurdles, Jarred Neff (2:00.02 in the 800 meter run, Nathan Mills (8:56.06) in the 3,000 meter run, Garrett Anglemeyer (13.54 meters) in the shot put, and Jeffrey Ruppert in the pole vault (3.85 meters).
The 'Dons will travel to Youngstown, Ohio. to compete in the YSU Mid-Major invitational on Friday and Saturday Jan. 28 and 29. Youngstown State is also set to host the Horizon League Indoor Championships on Saturday and Sunday Feb. 26 and 27.
