Track & Field Travel To Youngstown for YSU-Mid Major Meet

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Purdue Fort Wayne track & field teams return to competition in Youngstown, Ohio to compete in the YSU-Mid Major Invitational on Friday, Jan. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 29.
Field events on Friday will begin at 3:00 p.m. Track events begin at 4 p.m. On Saturday, field events begin at 9:45 a.m. and track events begin at 10:30 a.m.
Records Broke at Mastodon Invitational
This past weekend at the Mastodon Invitational, men's track & field athletes Kehinde Oladapo and Zyler Johnson broke program records. Johnson broke the program record in the weight throw at 16.44 meters. Oladapo broke the program record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:40.25. It was the first time Oladapo competed in the 3,000 meters. In addition, Miranda Haney broke the program record in the women's high jump at 1.69 meters.
Top Women's times and marks
The Mastodons women's track & field team has two athletes who rank in the top of the Horizon League in their respective event. Madison King ranks first in the 5,000 meter run (17:30.54) and third in the 3,000 meter run (10:04.27). Selena Johnson ranks first in the triple jump (11.73m).
Top Men's times and marks
The Mastodons men's track & field team has multiple athletes who rank towards the top of the Horizon League in their respective events.
Weston Meiser (1:56.64) ranks third in the 800 meter run. Kehinde Oladapo (14:52.10), Nathan Mills (14:53.10), JT Hodges (14:54.76) and Nicholas Mills (14:54.99) rank fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh in the 5,000 meter run. Cody Loshe (13' 11") ranks fifth in the pole vault. Zyler Johnson (53' 11.25") and Asher Walden (53' 7.75") rank second and third in the weight throw.

The Mastodons have next weekend off, but will travel to two meets the following weekend.
A group of athletes travel to meets to Allendale, Mich to compete in the GVSU Big Meet on Friday and Saturday Feb. 11 and 12. A second group of athletes will travel to Kent, Ohio. to compete in the Doug Raymond National Qualifier, hosted by Kent State, on Friday and Saturday feb. 11 and 12.
