Men’s Cross Country Earns Best Ever Finish at League Meet

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Purdue Fort Wayne men's cross country team took third on Saturday (Oct. 29) at the 2022 Horizon League Championships. The third-place finish is the Mastodons' best finish ever at a league meet, including time as both a Division I and Division II program.
Four Mastodons finished in the top 25. Andrew Whitinger picked up a 10th place finish in the 8K race for an All-Horizon League Second Team nod. He ran a time of 25:14.9. Nicholas Mills was 21st at 25:51.1. Freshman Austin Hall earned a 23rd place finish, passing the finish line in 25:55.0. Nathan Mills was a spot behind in 24th, stopping the clock in 25:58.1.
Jarred Neff took 33rd, running a time of 26:13.2 and contributing a score to the Mastodons' team score of 111.
Husam Saleh (26:19.7) earned 35th and Colten Gasson took 43rd (26:32.5).
The Mastodons' lineup was rounded out by JT Hodges (26:34.2), Harrison Niswander (26:45.8), Draven Thompson (26:54.7) and Kobe Milledge (27:13.3).
Youngstown State won the team title.
The Mastodons finished three spots better than they were picked in the preseason poll. It is also four spots better than the Mastodons' seventh place performance last season at the Horizon League meet.
The 'Dons are back in action on Nov. 11 at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
