Georgia State Wins Two in Doubleheader

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Purdue Fort Wayne baseball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday (Feb. 19), falling to Georgia State 12-2 and 6-5.
GAME 1 | Georgia State 12, Purdue Fort Wayne 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mastodons were trailing 6-0 in the sixth inning when they made it a 6-1 game on an RBI single from Jack Lang, scoring Dylan Stewart from second base.
The 'Dons deficit was 10-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the seventh inning. Purdue Fort Wayne pushed across a run on Cade Nelis' two-out RBI double, which made it a 10-2 game. The Mastodons were unable to get any closer, as Georgia State added two runs to their score on the way to a 12-2 final.

Purdue Fort Wayne took a 5-4 lead into the eighth inning, but could not hang on and fell 6-5 to the Georgia State Panthers Saturday.
Jacob Myer (0-1) took the loss on the mound for Purdue Fort Wayne (0-3). Mitchell Spencer started the ballgame and went five innings, surrendering one run on five hits, walking one and striking out two.
Senior Garett Lake led the way offensively for the Mastodons, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a home run, two walks and three RBIs. Isaiah Hart furnished a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Senior Braedon Blackford also chipped in, going 2-for-3 for Purdue Fort Wayne with a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mastodons put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the third inning. Purdue Fort Wayne scored three, all of them coming across on a three-run homer off the bat of Lake.
The Mastodons expanded on their advantage in the sixth inning after the Panthers cut it to 3-1. Purdue Fort Wayne scored twice on Hart's two-run homer, which brought the Mastodons lead to 5-1. The Mastodons were unable to hold the lead, as Georgia State scored five times over the remaining three innings to grab the 6-5 win.
