Purdue Fort Wayne Never Trails in 4-2 Win Against Radford

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Purdue Fort Wayne softball coach Amber Bowman picked up her first win as the head coach of the Mastodons on Saturday (Feb. 19), as the 'Dons topped Radford 4-2 after falling to Northwestern State 3-0 in the morning.
GAME 1
Senior Jadelyn Johnson (0-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Purdue Fort Wayne (0-8). The right-hander went three innings, giving up one run on three hits, allowing two walks and striking out two. Sophomore Alyson Quinlan threw two innings, surrendering one run on one hit, while walking none and striking out three.
Senior Camryn Mosher led the way offensively for the Mastodons, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a triple.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Purdue Fort Wayne managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Mastodons last got a runner on third in the fourth, when Mosher made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
GAME NOTES
» Purdue Fort Wayne pitchers limited Northwestern State to just 2-for-10 (.200) with runners in scoring position.

GAME 2
The 'Dons took a 4-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 4-2 win against the Radford Highlanders.
Gracie Brinkerhoff (1-2) started in the circle and picked up the win for Purdue Fort Wayne (1-8). The freshman went all seven innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on eight hits.
Brayden Lickey led the way offensively for the Mastodons, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a double and two RBIs. Alise Hale compiled a noteworthy day at the plate as well with a double and an RBI. Taryn Jenkins also chipped in a 2-for-3 effort with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mastodons got on the board immediately, scoring all four in the bottom of the first inning. Purdue Fort Wayne's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Lickey. Radford put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Mastodons still held on for the 4-2 win.
