'Dons Drop Final Game at California Baptist

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Purdue Fort Wayne baseball team fell 11-1 at California Baptist on Sunday (Feb. 27) in the final game of a four-game set with the reigning Western Athletic Conference Champions.
The Mastodons were led offensively by Jack Lang who went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk. Braedon Blackford finished 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI after scoring Lang in the eighth. Garett Lake had a double for the 'Dons.
The Lancers scored one in the first but opened it up with a four-run second inning. The 'Dons couldn't get to CBU starter Anthony Silvas. He went five innings for the win. Bryce Martens started and took the loss for the 'Dons. He is now 0-2 after a 1.2 innings of work. Freshman Rex Stills had a nice outing from the bullpen, going 2.1 shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking one and striking out two.
GAME NOTES
» The 'Dons had base runners in seven of the nine innings.
» Kevin Fee didn't allow a run in 1.2 innings of work and earned a double play to end a threat in the sixth.
» California Baptist was led offensively by sophomore Jake Skipworth, who went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
» The 'Dons are now 0-8. The Lancers improve to 7-0.
