Six More Men's Track & Field School Records Broken at Horizon League Championships

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Six program records fell for the Purdue Fort Wayne men's track & field team on the final day of the 2022 Horizon League Indoor Championships on Sunday, Feb. 27
Kai Auernheimer broke his own program record in the men's heptathlon with 4,281 points, Joe Cartwright broke his own record in the 400-meter dash at 49.36 seconds and Brent Donaldson broke his own record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.24 seconds. JT Hodges set a new 3,000-meter time at 8:34.82.
In addition, Aaron Martin broke the record in the men's shot put at 14.90 meters. The men's 4 by 400-meter team of Brent Donaldson, Braxton Trittpio, Nicolas Blair, and Joe Cartwright set a new record at 3:18.30 in a second place performance.
Auernheimer and Logan Alexander (3,850 points) were fourth and seventh in the men's heptathlon. The two combined for seven points for the men's team.
Auernheimer won the 1,000-meter run (3:03.11), was third in the pole vault (3.74 meters) and long jump (6.41 meters), sixth in the high jump (1.75 meters) and shot put (11.08 meters), sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.52 seconds), and seventh in the 60-meter dash (7.69 seconds),
Alexander finished third in the high jump (1.87 meters), fourth in the 60-meter dash (7.45 seconds) sixth eighth in the 60-meter hurdles (10.04 seconds) and 1,000-meter run (3:13.17), seventh long jump (5.78 meters) and shot put (9.87 meters), and ninth in the pole vault (2.94 meters).
Other point scorers included Donaldson in the 60-meter hurdles in fourth (five points), Cartwright with a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash (two points), and Aaron Carter in eighth in the shot put (one point).
As a team, the 'Dons finished in sixth place with 33 points. Youngstown State was the Horizon League champions with 225 points.
The Mastodons kick off outdoor season on Friday March 11 at the Myrtle Beach Colligate Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C
