Big Meets Ahead For Mastodons

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – After a week off, the Purdue Fort Wayne track & field teams are set to compete in two meets on Friday and Saturday Feb. 11 and 12.
A group of athletes will compete in the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich. A second group of athletes will travel to Kent, Ohio. and compete in the Doug Raymond National Qualifier, hosted by Kent State.

Program Records
The Mastodons track & field teams set five program records at the YSU Mid-Major Invitational back on Jan. 28 and 29.
Kai Auernheimer broke the men's heptathlon record (4,255 points), Luke Beehler set the men's long jump record (6.94 meters), Zyler Johnson broke the weight throw record (16.88 meters), Cory Waldron set the men's 500 record (1:07.50), and the men's Distance Medley Relay team set a new record (10:16.21).
'Dons Rankings In The Horizon League
Both the men's (10:16.85) and women's (12:24.54) DMR teams have the top times in the Horizon League. In addition, the men's 4 by 400 team ranks third in the Horizon League (3:22.99) and the women's 4 by 400 team is fourth in the Horizon League (4:06.24).
Distance runners include Madison King, who is second in the women's 5,000 meter run (17:30.54) and third in the women's 3,000 meter run (10:04.27) and Kehinde Oladapo, who is fourth in the men's 800 meter run (1:54.31) and 10th in the men's 5,000 meter run (14:52.10).
Track athletes include Katie Clark, who is sixth in the women's 400 meter dash (58.24 seconds), Brent Donaldson is eighth in the 60 meter hurdles (8.53 seconds), both Dona Fagnon (7.02 seconds) and Jai Reed (7.71 seconds) are ninth in the men's and women's 60 meter dash, and Jordan Yanders (8.88 seconds) and Jesseca Hudson-Turpin (8.89) are eighth and 10th in the women's 60 meter hurdles.
Dylan Kirkwood (3,280) and Sophia Buck (3,237) are second and third in the women's pentathlon, Selena Johnson (11.73 meters) and Louiza Kruiswijk (11.47 meters) are second and fifth in the women's triple jump, Auernheimer is second in the men's heptathlon (4,255), Miranda Haney is fourth in the women's high jump (1.69 meters), and Zyler Johnson (16.88 meters), and Asher Walden (16.35 meters) are fourth and fifth in the men's weight throw.

The Mastodons will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 19 to compete in the Indiana State University Open in Terre Haute, Ind. This will be the final meet the 'Dons compete in before the Horizon League Championships on Feb. 26 and 27 in Youngstown, Ohio.
