Two More Program Records Broken During Day Two at Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Purdue Fort Wayne men's track & field student-athletes JT Hodges and Aaron Martin broke program records on day two of the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on March 12. They helped the Mastodons take second place at the 27-team event with 74.5 points.
Martin broke the record in the men's shot put with a throw of 13.87 meters. The mark topped the previous record of 13.25 which was held by Garrett Anglemeyer.
Hodges broke the record in the men's 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:00.37. The previous record of 9:04 was held by Sam Williamson. Hodges finished fourth overall in the event and received five team points.
Point scorers in field events included Cody Loshe, who won the pole vault (10 points) at 4.11 meters, and Asher Walden in seventh place (two points) in the men's discus (38.46 meters).
Brent Donaldson (22.43 seconds), Braxton Trittipo (22.64 seconds), and Joe Cartwright (22.75 seconds) finished in second, tied for fourth, and sixth in the 200-meter dash. The three athletes combined for 15.5 team points.
Point scorers in mid distance/distance events included Weston Miser (2:01.80) and Kobe Milledge (2:04.11), fourth and sixth in the 800-meter run (eight combined team points between the two athletes). Husam Saleh was sixth (three points) in the 3,000-meter run (9:05.12).
Concord won the meet with 83 points.
The Mastodons will be back in action on Friday, March 18 to compete in the Blizzard Buster, hosted by Miami (Ohio) in Oxford, Ohio.
