HUNTINGTON, W.Va. --Purdue Fort Wayne was on the wrong side of a dominant pitching performance Thursday as junior Sydney Nester threw a no-hitter for Marshall, leading the Thundering Herd over the Mastodons 11-0.
Freshman Gracie Brinkerhoff (1-4) got the ball to start for Purdue Fort Wayne (1-10) and took the loss. Shaina Eyre came out of the bullpen and threw 3.1 innings, giving up just one run on three hits, with one walk and two strikeouts.
Taylor Warne broke up the perfect game by drawing a walk in the third.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Marshall scored 10 runs in the first inning behind three home runs.
Purdue Fort Wayne went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position. The Mastodons last got a runner on third in the third, when senior Camryn Mosher made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
GAME NOTES
» Warne drew a walk for the 'Dons.
» Marshall was led offensively by freshman Lauren Love, who went 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs.
