Five-Game Win Streak Snapped in 5-4 Loss at NKU

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Mastodons were one out away from winning their sixth straight game, but a walk-off single by Northern Kentucky's Manny Vorhees gave the Norse a 5-4 victory over the 'Dons on Friday (April 15).
Trailing 3-0, the Mastodons broke through in the seventh. Purdue Fort Wayne scored four runs in the frame with just one hit as the inning featured four hit by pitches and a walk. Ben Higgins singled with two outs to score Jarrett Bickel and Brian Erbe to put the 'Dons up 4-3.
It stayed that way until the ninth when Vorhees' bases loaded single on an 0-1 pitch allowed the Norse to win.
Ryan Robison took the loss out of the pen. He is 0-1.
Mitchell Spencer earned a no-decision. He went five innings, with the only runs he gave up coming on a three-run home run by Zack Minton in the second inning. All three runs were unearned. Spencer recorded eight strikeouts.
Braxton Wilson continued his solid freshman season with 3.1 innings of work, allowing just one run and no hits.
In the batter's box, the Mastodons were paced by Ben Higgins, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a walk and two RBIs. Garett Lake went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.
