King Places First in Women's 5,000-Meter Run at Gibson Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne women's track & field athlete Madison King finished first in the women's 5,000-meter run during day one of the Gibson Invitational on Friday, April 22.
King finished the event with a time of 17:43.75. Brooke Neal took fourth in the same event at 18:54.96.
The Mastodons sit first out of eight teams with 43 points after the first day.
Other performers from Friday included Megan Sinnott, who finished third in the javelin throw (38.36 meters) and fifth in the hammer throw (45.46 meters). Nakia Harris-Campbell (45.52 meters) and Abbigail Garwood (43.60 meters) finished fourth and sixth in the hammer throw.
Sophia Buck (32.73 meters), Ramey Wilder (29.26 meters), Dylan Kirkwood (28.04 meters) and Garwood (25.98 meters) finished seventh through 10th place in the javelin throw.
Day two of the Gibson Invitational begins tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the 100-meter prelims.
