Three Program Records Were Broken at Gibson Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne men's track & field student-athletes Zyler Johnson and Braxton Trittipo, along with the men's 4 by 100 meter relay team broke program records at day two of the Gibson Invitational on Saturday, April 23.
Johnson's throw of 45.41 meters in the discus throw broke the previous record of 44.72 meters set by Aaron Martin back on March 18, 2022. He finished seventh overall in the event.
Trittipo's time of 49.95 seconds in the 400-meter dash broke the previous record of 50.19 seconds he set back on April 16, 2021. He finished seventh overall in the event.
The men's 4 by 100-meter relay team of Dona Fagnon, Luke Beehler, John Jackman and Brent Donaldson finished fifth (42.62 seconds). The time broke the previous record of 42.97 seconds back on March 26, 2021
As a team, the Mastodons finished fourth out of 11 teams with 90.50 points. Indiana State won the meet with 252 points.
In mid-distance and distance events, Draven Thompson (4:01.21), JT Hodges (4:04.27) and Husam Saleh (4:04.84) finished fourth through sixth in the 1500-meter run. Kobe Milledge (1:56.81) and Weston Miser (1:59.37) finished fifth and sixth in the 800-meter run.
The 4 by 400-meter relay team of Donaldson, Trittipo, Nicolas Blair, and Joe Cartwright finished second (3:23.36).
In field events, Cody Loshe (4.53 meters) finished second in the pole vault. Austin Dove (1.87 meters), Cain Hohne (1.87 meters) and Logan Alexander (1,82 meters) finished fifth, tied for sixth, and eighth in the high jump. Beehler finished eighth in the long jump (6.76 meters).
In throwing events, Johnson (14.09 meters) and Garrett Anglemeyer (13.17 meters) finished sixth and seventh in the shot put.
The 'Dons will be back in action in Kalamazoo, Mich. to compete in the Jack Shaw Invitational on Friday and Saturday April 29 and 30. This will be the last competition the 'Dons compete in before the Horizon League Championships in Rochester, Mich. on May 6-8.
