Mastodons Drop Final Game of Regular Season

AKRON, Ohio – The Purdue Fort Wayne baseball team fell 11-0 at Akron on Saturday (May 21) in the regular season finale for the Mastodons.
The Mastodons now turn their attention to the 2022 Horizon League Championship, hosted by Wright State. The 'Dons will be the No. 4 seed and play No. 5 seed Youngstown State at noon on May 25th. A win and the 'Dons will advance to the double-elimination round. A loss would end the Mastodons' season.
On Saturday afternoon, the Mastodons were led by Ben Higgins. He had a pair of hits for the 'Dons. Dylan Stewart added another.
Akron scored two runs in the first, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and then four in the seventh to end the game via run-rule. Nick Arrivo hit a grand slam in the seventh for Akron.
Mitchell Spencer took the loss for the 'Dons. He surrendered four runs in 4.0 innings with five strikeouts.
Cameron Benson had two hits including a home run for Akron. Akron concludes their season 15-41. The 'Dons are now 18-35.
