Men's Track Sets Four Records at Day Two of Horizon League Championships

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track & field team broke four program records on day two of the 2022 Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, May 7.
Brent Donaldson (53.49 seconds) bested his previous record of 55.27 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles. He finished first in the prelims by two seconds. Donaldson also finished in sixth in the 110-meter hurdle prelims (15.41 seconds) and qualified for the finals in both hurdle events.
Braxton Trittipo (48.99 seconds) bested his previous program record time of 49.95 seconds in the 400-meter dash prelims. He finished fourth in the event and qualified for Sunday's finals.
Andrew Whitinger's time of 9:44.70 in the 3000-meter steeplechase bested the previous record of 9:50.64, which was set by Brent Unger in 2017.
At the end of day two of the Horizon League Championships, the Mastodons sit in fourth place with 26 points. Youngstown State is in first with 113 points.
Kai Auernheimer (5779 points) and Logan Alexander (4833 points) finished third and eighth in the men's decathlon. The two combined for seven points. Auernheimer's point total is also a school record.
Auernheimer finished first in the 1500-meter run (5:19.84), second in the javelin throw (50.34 meters), fourth in the pole vault (3.50 meters) and fifth in the discus throw (32.76 meters) and 110-meter hurdles (16.73 seconds).
Alexander finished fifth in the 1500-meter run (5:45.65), sixth in the discus throw (29.44 meters), seventh in the javelin throw (38.82 meters), and eighth in the 110-meter hurdles (18.17 seconds).
Cody Loshe took third in the pole vault (4.25 meters, six points). Whitinger and Noah Wright (10:49.57) were sixth and eighth in the 3000-meter steeplechase, combining for four points. Aaron Martin finished eighth in the shot put (13.93 meters, one point).
In addition, Kehinde Oladapo (1:54.90) and Kobe Milledge (1:55.17) finished in fifth and seventh in the 800-meter run and qualified for the finals on Sunday.
The league meet concludes on Sunday. Events start at 10 a.m. with the men's triple jump.
