YORKTOWN, Ind. - Anna Olafsdottir and the Purdue Fort Wayne women's golf team set new 54-hole records on Tuesday (Sept. 20) at the Cardinal Classic, with Olafsdottir turning in a program-best 217 to lead the team to a new record of 910.
Olafsdottir owns the 18-, 36-, and 54-hole records at Purdue Fort Wayne after this week. Her mark of 69-71-77-217 topped the previous 54-hole record by four strokes. In the final round of the Cardinal Classic, Olafsdottir carded birdies on eight and 17. Her 1-over-par performance was good enough for fourth. This is the first time the junior from Iceland has finished in the top-five and third top-10 finish.
Mastodon newcomer Adrienne Rohwedder was the team's second-best score of the week, as the junior transfer recorded a 77-72-75-224, which is also in the 54-hole top-10 in program history. Rohwedder started with four bogeys in her first six holes, but leveled out and was bogey-free the rest of the way. She had a birdie on hole four to move back to 3-over for the day. She took 14th place.
Arny Dagsdottir also birdied hole four on Tuesday. She finished with a 74-80-80-234 to claim 52nd place. She had 10 pars, with six coming on the front nine. Natalie Papa was 1-over through seven holes on Tuesday thanks to a birdie on her second hole of the day. She finished the tournament with a 75-79-82-236 to take 56th. Luiza Caetano knocked in seven pars in her final round, finishing with an 80-79-87-246 for 66th.
Taylor Norman and Laura Caetano played as individuals, carding 80-76-75-231 (T41) and 77-75-81-233 (T47) , respectively. Norman's 231 was a career-best 54-hole score.
As a team, the Mastodons took 10th with their 910. They were just one stroke back of Horizon League foe IUPUI. Loyola Chicago took home the team trophy with an 879. Ball State's Kiah Parrott was the individual medalist with a 207.
The 'Dons are back in action in five days when they visit Munster, Indiana to play in UIC's Briar Ridge Invitational.
