Madison King Awarded Horizon League Female Athlete of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS - Purdue Fort Wayne's Madison King was named the 2023 Horizon League Cross Country Female Athlete of the Year, the league announced on Thursday (Nov. 30).
King's season was highlighted by her 2023 Horizon League Cross Country Individual Championship. It was the third women's cross country individual league title in program history. She ran a personal best 6K time of 20:34.89, taking the second spot on the program's top 10 list. King, Brooke Neal and Riley Tate each earned All-League honors to help the 'Dons to a second place team finish.
Also this season, King was named to the 2023 Horizon League All-Academic Team and earned a pair of Horizon League Runner of the Week honors. The Noblesville, Indiana native won the Mastodon Alumni Open and IUPUI Jaguar Invitational in 2023. King placed 21st at NCAA Regionals and was named to the All-Region Team.
King is the first Mastodon to be named a Cross Country Athlete of the Year since Emma Rafuse won the same award in the Summit League in 2018.
