
Track and Field Kicks off Indoor Season This Weekend

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne track and field teams are set to open up their indoor seasons at home with the Mastodon Multi Invitational (Dec. 1) and the Mastodon Open (Dec. 2).
Mastodon Multi Invitational
When: Friday, December 1

Last Season for the Women
The women's squad took fourth place last season at the Horizon League outdoor championships. The 'Dons won three individual titles at the championship with Jesseca Hudson-Turpin winning the 100 hurdles, Dylan Kirkwood winning the heptathlon with a school record 4965 points and Brooke Neal taking home the 3000 meter steeplechase title. The 'Dons were also fourth at last season's indoor championships. They were picked to finish third this season in the 2023-24 preseason poll. Hudson-Turpin and Kirkwood will compete in Saturday's Mastodon Open.
Men's Season for the Men
The men's team took fifth place at last year's Horizon League Outdoor Championships. Aaron Martin (javelin), Asher Waldin (hammer), Harrison Niswander (3000 steeplechase), and the 4x400 team all took spots on the podium at the meet. The 'Dons finished fifth in the 2023 indoor championships and like the women, were picked to finish third this season in the preseason poll this season. Martin and Waldin will both compete on Saturday along with last year's heptathlon champion Kai Auernheimer.
Eyes on the Prize
The indoor season will culminate at the Horizon League Indoor Championships on February 24-25 in Youngstown, Ohio.

The Mastodons will head across town to compete in the Warrior Open hosted by Indiana Tech, Friday (Dec. 8).
