Know Your Foe

The Series
The Broncos lead the series 5-1 and have won the last five. The Mastodons won the first game in the series in 2001 81-77. The last matchup game in 2018, when WMU won 69-61. De'Jour Young had 14 points and seven rebounds for the 'Dons.
In The Polls
Purdue Fort Wayne is receiving votes in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. They are receiving 10 points in the poll for a de facto position of 35th. When they received seven points in the poll on December 6, it was the first time the 'Dons received votes since the 2011-12 season.
Shayla The Starter
Shayla Sellers became the program's leader when she started against St. Thomas. It was her 119th start, pushing her past Jordan Zuppe, who started 118 from 2007-11.
Miss Mastodon
Shayla Sellers will tie the program's all-time leader with 121 games played when she steps on the floor at Western Michigan.
What a Start!
Purdue Fort Wayne's 7-3 start is the best through 10 games in the Division I era of the program. With a win, 8-3 would also be the best start through 11 games in the DI era. In the all-time history, the Mastodons' most wins with three losses came in 1995-96 when they started 18-3. They finished 23-5 in the best season in program history.
Lock Down The Arc
Purdue Fort Wayne held St. Thomas without a 3-pointer for the Tommies' first 15 tries. They finished the game with a 2-for-17 (11.8 percent) effort, which was their worst of the season.
Turn, Turn, Turn It Over
Purdue Fort Wayne has forced three teams into 23 or more turnovers this season, including a season-high 31 against Great Lakes Christian. The 31 turnovers forced against the Crusaders is the most since the 'Dons forced Manchester into 34.
Net Positive
In the first release of the NET rankings, Purdue Fort Wayne was No. 80, the highest in program history. Of Horizon League schools, only Green Bay (27) was higher. Purdue Fort Wayne was the only Horizon League school to have both their men's and women's teams in the top-100 in the initial NET rankings.
Magic Numbers 70 and 80
Under head coach Maria Marchesano, the Mastodons are 19-4 when they score 70 points or more and 10-1 when they hit 80.
#3Nation
Purdue Fort Wayne hit 14 or more 3-pointers twice this season (Western Kentucky and Oakland). This is the first time since 2014 that the Mastodons have had two games with 14 or more triples in a season and the first time ever that the 'Dons have done it in back-to-back games.
We Love Threes...
Purdue Fort Wayne has been dangerous from 3-point land this season. The Mastodons are leading the Horizon League and top-30 in the nation with a 38.1 3-point percentage and 8.8 3-point makes per contest. Audra Emmerson is in the top-100 nationally with 22 3-pointers made.
... and It's Been a While Since We Haven't...
The Mastodons love making threes so much, they haven't had a game without a 3-pointer made since January 1, 2021, a streak of 89 games. This includes every game in the Maria Marchesano era.
...But You Don't Get Any
In addition to controlling their own 3-point line, the Mastodons are stingy on the defensive side as well. The 'Dons are top-100 and second in the Horizon League, allowing opponents to shoot just 27.4 percent from beyond the arc.
Some More on the 3-Ball
The Mastodons have five players shooting at least 40 percent from the 3-point line. Lauryn Stover is 1-of-2 (50 percent), Ryin Ott is 14-for-30 (46.7 percent), Amellia Bromenschenkel is 12-of-26 (46.2 percent), Renna Schwieterman is 15-of-34 (44.1 percent), and Shayla Sellers is 13-of-32 (40.6 percent).
Post Up Syd!
Sydney Graber is shooting 70.0 percent from the floor this season. If she had enough attempts, this mark would be the fifth-best in the nation.
Chasing 1,000
Amellia Bromenschenkel is looking to become the next 1,000 point scorer in Mastodon history. She has 757 in her career. With her average of 13.0 points per game this season, she is on pace to reach 1,000 career points in 18 games.
Audramatic
Audra Emmerson is shooting 41.9 percent from deep since January 1, 2023, a mark of 60-of-143 over 26 games, including 22-of-60 (36.7 percent) this year.
Ott-omatic - Yep, We're Using the Same Joke Twice
Over the last four games, Ryin Ott is averaging 16.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor (20-of-38) and 62.5 percent from 3-point range (10-of-16). She had a career-high 21 points at Oakland on November 30 with a 6-for-7 effort from 3-point range. She has been in double-figures in each of the last four games.
Last Time Out
St. Thomas came away with a 64-59 win over the Mastodons on December 9. The Mastodons held the Tommies to 2-of-17 shooting from the 3-point line. It was a one-possession game down to the final moments.
Coming Up
The Mastodons will host Aquinas next on December 21 for Purdue Fort Wayne's annual Fitness Day, when they will welcome 600 students from Fort Wayne Community Schools for the 11 a.m. contest.
