Mastodon Softball Hosts Butler For Home Opener on Wednesday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne softball team will open its home 2023 campaign on Wednesday (March 15) at 4 p.m. against Butler. This game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but has moved to Wednesday ahead of forecasted weather.

Butler is 7-18 this season and is currently on a three-game winning streak. The Bulldogs took all three of their series against DePaul. Kaylee Gross is leading the team with a .300 batting average on 21 hits. Monique Hoosen is the team's leading slugger with a .552 mark on three doubles, one triple and five home runs. Hollopeter had nine RBI behind four home runs, three of which were 2-run shots. In the first game against Rhode Island, Hollopeter had two two-run home runs in her first two at bats, the second of which was on the first pitch she saw. Defensively, she was a perfect 1.000 in the field with eight putouts.
