Blackford Hits 12th Home Run in Setback at NKU

Blackford went 4-for-5 with a sixth-inning three-run home run. He finished his day with three runs scored as well as his three runs knocked in.
Ben Higgins, Grant Thoroman, Caileb Johnson and Tyler Nelson each had two hits in the contest. Nelson added a double, an RBI and a run scored in the game. Higgins opened the scoring with a home run in the top of the first. He drove in Blackford.
The 'Dons were hurt by two big NKU innings. The Norse scored four in the first and eight in the fifth. Noah Fisher drove in four runs, walked three times and had a home run. Carson Werrmann earned the win in relief for the Norse. Mac Ayers took the loss for the 'Dons.
The Mastodons' best chance to rally came in the eighth when they scored once but stranded the bases loaded.
NKU improves to 24-16 (13-6 Horizon League). The 'Dons fall to 10-33 (6-13 Horizon League). The middle game of the series will be played on Saturday (April 29) at 1 p.m.
